I haven't had the problem in a few days since I found that one of my memory sticks was not seated all the way, I fixed that and will keep an eye on the problem.

Now I'm getting a pop up when I hit internet explorer that says there is not enough memory to run this program. Close one or more programs to continue. It appears to be a java application that is not running, nmo idea which one it is.

What operating system are you using?
Also, I'd go to www.ccleaner.com and download their free program. Clean your registry files first. When it asks if you want to make a backup, choose "Yes."

Then, need to know what programs are starting up when you boot the machine. The less you have running in the background, the better. Many programs start themselves when you start the machine. This is unnecessary because the program will run fine if you just start it from the start menu.

HP's, for example, have all sorts of crap (Compaq's, too) that load automatically when you boot the machine. You can shut most of that stuff off and only start it when you want to use it.

Also, this is just my personal opinion, some would disagree... but use the firewall that comes with Windows. Forget the 3rd party stuff.

If you have Norton's running, treat it like a roach and get it out of your system. They've had more problems and complaints than almost any other company I know with their security suite.

I'm having trouble now getting things to download. I'm just gonna wipe my harddrive and put xp on here. I don't think its vistas problem I think I screwed some stuff up myself or my kids have done it.

If you wipe everything out and put XP on the machine, you will lose all of your drivers. That means, things like the sound card, the video card, your wireless card (if you have one) and many other things may suddenly stop working. If you have the original factory restore settings option, use that first.

In order to wipe a drive and backwards install another operating system, you have to know exactly what you're doing.

I was going to take it to someone so I didn't ahve to bother with it anymore. The crappy thing with Vista is you cant bring it back to what you bought without upgrading to the home premium package, I got home basic when I bought it. Didn't come with any discs but it came with a backup operating system that is on a slave hardrive that you cant use.

That sucks not having a back up recover option. My father bought a machine that sounds like yours. His didn't come with a backup either, but his problems started right away. Finally, they comped him a set of physical CD's they sent to him post paid. After the CD's arrived, the problems changed. He hated Vista and wanted me to install XP. That can be a nightmare... so I said, "Let's try to use these backup CD's and see what happens?"

He agreed. Since then, everything's been okay. I don't hate Vista, but I prefer XP because it doesn't ask you "Are you sure you want to do this?" whenever you're trying to doing something.

computer problems again ... all searches get redirected ... type in something on google click a link and it redirects from that link to an advertisement different one every time.

Probably will have to do the system recovery again ... I wonder if doing a system restore to an earlier date would help?

Getting ready to do this again ... system gets too infected, probably all the porn :D

I did get a brand new computer for Christmas but I am trying to get a customer service job from home so until I get it or get another job I am leaving that computer alone.
