Post Boxing League
I was thinking maybe we should start one here since Sal is always on extended vacations and I never go anywhere LOL ....

Any interest? I would totally rip off everything from UTBA ....

I like the idea of some sort of League where you could manage fighters a little more if that makes any sense. Maybe guide a stable of fighters to a shot at the title? The one thing about TB is, fighters are usually lousy when they're in "beginning" mode. Pre-Prime is more realistic.

It would be nice to guide have that RPG aspect to it if that's possible? Is that possible? :blah:

Let me think about it and see if I can come up with anything ... I love Sal but he seems to have bad things happen to where he is gone a month or so at a time ... I'm in a ton of on-line leagues for other sports and it seems like I should be in one for boxing too.

I enjoy the league over there. It's the first one I've ever been in. If you don't make a lot of trades, though, there's not a whole lot of input. With an RPG type of game, you could move your fighter along by signing to fight a bunch of NPC's, earn money with the purses, grab a belt here and there - unify them, etc.
If you had all of the weight divisions, everyone could have a good/great fighter in their stable along with decent to "scrubs". You could also fight in different venues.

If you have a former gold medalist, you get a much easier ride w/easier opponents on the way up. If you're a Marvin Hagler type, you have to fight even longer and harder before you get a shot at the title. That kind of set up would really be interesting!

Mike I'd be willing to help coordinate and set up the league. I don't have a major amount of time but I'll give you what I've got.

I like the RPG idea too. Using a smaller stable of fighters it would be easier to manage. I'm not sure tracking the money we'll be able to keep up any kind of speed but we could track wagers. After the initial draft we could do a random selection of fighters to fill the divisions and then simulate a designated amount of time and crown a champ then bring in our fighters. It is doable but I think it requires everyone to stay involved and keep the input coming.

I'm thinking it would have to be with generated fighters at first ... with more "points" scored by a "gym" then you have the possibility of buying a real fighter.

I am also thinking that I would have to just run the universe and everyone would be in the dark about ratings ... slowly I could reveal certain ratings of a fighter.

I like that idea. I like the idea of starting with fictional fighters.

Yeah, you're right. I'm thinking of D&D meeting pro boxing!
Something like that would have to be created like the old "modules" or adventures.

Not knowing what you've got as far as a fighter goes is interesting, too. It's just like real life when you wonder who someone's going to do the first time they get nailed by a big punch. Then there's the type of guy who rarely looks spectacular until you suddenly realize, he's 40-0. He's gotta have more going than meets the eye.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the League at the OOTP board, but I like the one-on-one aspect of the fight game where one punch can put you on top of the mountain... or under it.

Sorry to hear about your job.

Barack will be taking care of all that, though, so you can use this time to work on boxing game ideas.
