A lot of nice points on the fights. I just feel bad for Evander, he is wrecking his image as a Christian man with these allegations.

Good start to a new column!

I guess with Evander Holyfield, it remains to be seen whether he's guilt of anything or not. He definitely shouldn't be taking punches for a living any longer, that's for sure. He's been in a lot of wars over the last 20 years. I'd hate to see him slurring his words, sick and broke by the time he hits 60. On the other hand, he could possibly go on to have a successful career in business, too. You just never know.

Post Re: Weekend Wrap-Up
Pretty sure that when he blew through 52 million dollars and filed bankruptcy and had to auction off his property any thought of him being good in business went out the window.

I've always hated this guy and I toned it down for the blog :D ... but this is a guy pretending to be this huge religious guy yet had like 9 kids out of wedlock that he doesn't pay child support and now (allegedly) beat his wife for not getting out of bed at 1am to find proof she was tithing the church ...

It's like my problem with Sugar Ray Leonard ... he was supposed to be this clean cut wholesome dude and behind the scenes he is snorting coke and smacking around his wife.

I have a wide berth as far as morality goes when it comes to boxers but I hate pretending to be something you are not ... Mayweather is a punk ... we know he is a punk ... he doesn't pretend not to be a punk ... I have no problem with him being a punk. But if he was doing ads with his kids and smiling for the camera and having the media portray him as a clean cut wholesome guy ... then I would be pissed.

You know, I forgot all about Holyfield having been close to bankruptcy. These guys buy all these mansions and then are unable to afford the taxes and the upkeep and have to sell them for .25 cents on the dollar.

There aren't too many role model fighters out there these days. Vernon Forrest was one of the last really good examples of that - in the ring and out. I guess Oscar DeLaHoya was one, too, for a long time.

Had the boxing been better we'd had more to talk about but you did well with what you had to work with. Keep it up Mike.

Looking forward to this week's action. I finally have a little extra time here and there.
Livin' in a recession sure does wonders for job attentiveness!
